There were two major events in May. First was the AGM on the 19th. The second event was, of course, the highly successful first Plant Sale of the year on Sunday the 26th May 2013.

Sunday, 30th June was a visit to Ewanrigg Botanical Gardens at peak Aloe time. Talk on aloes by Brian Terry. Usual ACSSZ Routine plus bring & braai.
DIRECTIONS TO EWANRIGG BOTANIC GARDENS | ACSSZ OUTING ON SUNDAY 30 JUNE 2013:
Take the Enterprise Road, on the A2 highway until the Shamva and Mutoko road junction is reached (just after the toll gate, approximately 22km from Harare.) Take the left-hand fork, sign posted Shamva, on the A13 highway, and follow this road until the signpost indicating Ewanrigg National Park is reached, turn right and follow the gravel road for about 3km. Enter Ewanrigg at the gates on your right. During the dry season, there is an alternative route via the Mutoko road ,this is also signposted and you take a left turn.

DIRECTIONS TO ST GEORGE'S COLLEGE | ACSSZ OUTING ON SUNDAY 28 JULY 2013:
Go down/up Chancellor Avenue and turn left or right into St George's through the gates. Proceed over the speed humps to a roundabout of sorts and turn right going uphill. You will see the chapel ahead of you and a large tree across the road to the left. We'll meet beyond the tree near the entrance to the lecture hall for tea, after which things will start in the lecture hall.

Garden Visit to Dido de Swardt in Umwisidale. Usual ACSSZ Routine.
DIRECTIONS TO DIDO DE SWARDT | 2 Blue Haze Lane, Umwinsidale | SUNDAY 25 AUGUST 2013:
Take the Enterprise Road out to the Umwinsidale Garage, where you turn left onto the main Umwinsidale Road. Proceed approx. 3.5km then turn right on Haslemere Lane (with a signpost to Patrick Mavros and Kikis.) Proceed a few hundred metres then turn right into Blue Haze Lane. The entrance is the first on the right and the wooden gate is clearly marked with the number 2. The driveway is small, so it will be better to park outside. A guard will be arranged.

ACSSZ Rare Plant Sale (Spring Plant Sale) at Harare Botanic Gardens.
This year's Spring Plant Sale will feature an innovation in Zimbabwe - an auction dedicated to the sale of some very special cycads. Cycad auctions are fairly common in South Africa, but this will be a first for us. Included will be seedlings, off-cuts and mature plants. The auction will take place as a separate event during the plant sale. More details will follow in the September newsletter, but if you are interested in auctioning some of your cycads, contact either Hans Wolbert or Malcolm Thackray in the near future. It is also not too early for sellers of other species to begin preparations for the Sale.

Garden Visit to Elmarie Coetzer in Pomona. 23 Cameron Road, Pomona. Usual ACSSZ Routine.
This garden visit included a treat presentation by Rob Jarvis, on "Waterwise Gardeining". The raffle and silent auction saw members leaving with some truly special plants, along with their newly acquired knowledge and responsibility to garden waterwise! Rob's presentation will be published in the latest Ndepi magazine for all to read and ponder over.

DIRECTIONS TO GRAHAM and SUE WILLIAMS | 114 William Powlett, Hogerty Hill | SUNDAY 24 NOVEMBER 2013: Take the Domboshawa Road. Turn right into William Powlett. The Property is a little way down the road on the left.

DIRECTIONS TO DEBBIE and GRAEME | 38 Maputi Drive, Christon Bank | SUNDAY 15 DECEMBER 2013: Take the Mazowe Road and proceed to the 22km peg (allow $2 for tolls there and back - car-pooling is suggested.) Turn right into Christon Bank Road and travel for approximately 6km. Turn left into Garonga Road and continue about 300m to a T-junction. Turn left into Maputi Drve. No 38 is on the right...the 3rd house along.
