ACSSZ UPCOMING OUTINGS, FUNCTIONS & EVENTS FOR 2015

Note: all Outings, Functions and Events are subject to change. FULL DETAILS WILL BE MADE AVAILABLE TO MEMBERS IN THE MONTHLY NEWSLETTER, ORTHOLOPHA. 

Members receive venues and further details of all Outings, Functions and Events, by email, in their monthly newsletter. Should non-members be interested in attending any of the exciting Outings, Functions and Events, they should contact aloesocietyzim@gmail.com to become a member and receive all the great benefits from ACSSZ.

The "Usual ACSSZ Routine": Days start at 10h00 with Coffee/Tea. Please bring a plate of treats to share. Bring your chair/s and hat/s and in rainy weather, perhaps umbrellas as well! Remember to bring a clearly labelled plant/plants, or other contribution for The Raffle and Silent Auction. Bring some cash to buy 50c raffle tickets to raise funds for the Society, and stand the chance to go home with a new Aloe, Cactus, Succulent, Palm, Cycad or other treasure! Auctions are often part of the routine, so keep an eye out for some of the treasures that can be bid on at these meetings.

DIRECTIONS TO 8 Cheshire Road, Mount Pleasant FOR ACSSZ OUTING ON SUNDAY 25th JANUARY 2014:

Going out of town on Sam Nujoma Street, (Second Street), after the Lomagunda intersection, but before the traffic lights at The Chase, turn right on to Cheshire Road. If you are coming rom the other side of town, get on to The Chase, follow it around the sharp left hand corner onto Upper East and Cheshire Road is the second road on the right. In case you cannot find it, contact 04 303 494 or 0772516 644. Parking is limited, so please share transport wherever possible,

Xanadu Farm

DIRECTIONS TO XANADU, Ruwa, FOR ACSSZ OUTING ON SUNDAY 25th JANUARY 2014:
Go out of town on Samora Machel Avenue (Mutare Road). At about 19 km peg, turn right into Ruwa (the first Ruwa turn off). Follow the road over the railway lines and past TM Supermarket, take the second turn left and then the 3rd turn right, follow the road past McDonald Timbers to the garden of the McDonald’s. Kim’s contact numbers is 0775 009429.Please remember to bring a plate of eats to share. Don’t forget to bring chairs and hats, as well as a labelled plant or other contribution for the raffle and/or auction. The McDonald’s have recently finished the replica of the Great Zimbabwe Ruins as you will have see in the article “The New Ruins in Ruwa” in Ingens 51.Everybody is invited in staying on for lunch please bring you’re braai stuff or picnic lunch and drinks.

DIRECTIONS TO 6 Loxley Close, off Stratford FOR ACSSZ AGM and OUTING ON SUNDAY 25th JANUARY 2014:
From the Western suburbs heading East on Harare Drive, cross over Borrowdale Road, take 2nd road to the left Charlecote and then turn right at the T junction onto Stratford Drive then 2nd road to the right, Loxley Close, its on the right about half way down.
From the Northern and Eastern suburbs heading Northwest on Harare Drive, pass Rolf / Gaydon Road intersection, then take 4th road to the right into Leamington Road and then take 3rd road to the left into Guys Cliff Road then 1st turn left onto Stratford Drive follow the road round and turn 1st left into Loxley Close, its on the right about half way down.

DIRECTIONS TO BEDFORD, past Wild Geese, FOR ACSSZ OUTING ON SUNDAY 26th April 2015:
Bill Bedford and Di Kerr (Huku Mombe compost) live just past WILD GEESE. From Harare Drive, take Alpes Road, heading north out of town. Pass Pomona Quarry and Barracks (MIND THE HUMPS), past Wingate Golf Course and Emerald Seedlings. Follow the road round the double bend and turn left towards Wild Geese Lodge. Travel on dirt road past Wild Geese looking for sign on left saying BEDFORD. Over cattle grid and follow the road up the hill to the homestead. A treat awaits you ; ) Looking from Wild Geese over the grasslands, the property is the next one down the road. So no-one should get lost !

DIRECTIONS TO 17 Eagle Heights, Lake Chivero FOR ACSSZ OUTING ON SUNDAY 14th JUNE 2015 | 10am - 12.30am:
Go past the Lion and Cheetah Park...about 25km out of Harare. At the Old Turnpike Garage, now a Sukunda Garage, on your left, turn left for Lake Chivero and follow the road going over the railway line and up and over the hill. As you approach the bottom of the hill, turn left into Beesway Road, continue and then turn left again into Eagle Heights Road and continue to number 17 on your left. Note that this is an extra meeting and you will need to bring your own tea/refreshments and snacks. Don't forget to bring chairs and hats. There will be no raffle or speaker.

DIRECTIONS TO 2 Halford Road, Greystone Park FOR ACSSZ OUTING ON SUNDAY 21st JUNE 2015:
From Harare Drive or Stonechat Lane, get onto Gaydon Road, heading north, after the small shopping centre on the right, take the 2nd turn to the right onto Newbold Road. Halford Road is the 2nd left and the Terry's home is on the corner. Please note this is an extra meeting and you will need to bring your own tea/refreshments and snacks. Don't forget to bring chairs and hats. There will be no raffle, but we are hoping Brian will give us one of his very interesting talks.

Go 2.7km and turn LEFT into Borrowdale Brooke Lane (through Police Road Block.) Go 4km, past the President’s house and at T-junction turn RIGHT into Luna Road (strip road.) Go 300m and turn RIGHT into Sunlands Close. At the end of the Close, turn LEFT into No 1.Outing...

Grandi Lodges are close to Food Lovers Market at Honeydew. So travelling out of town on Samora Machel Avenue, (towards Mutare), after the Rhodesdale traffic lights, take the next left and Grandi Lodges are about 20m on the left, about 50m before Food Lovers Market. Parking inside the complex will be arranged and Gardeners will direct you.
